How Do You Know if Your IT is ‘Good’?

Too many times I walk into a client and told that things are ‘good’ with the current IT person or group. After checking, sometimes the customer is right, but many times, it could not be further from the truth. Machines with no updates; backups that have failed for months; no protection from ransomware, malware and viruses; servers that are about ready to fail; the list goes on and on.

Over several weekly posts, I will present questions for you to pose to your IT individual or group and see if it raises a red flag on your technology relationship.

Do you have access to your documentation for passwords, logins, IP addresses for your routers, etc.?

If the answer is ‘No’, then ask your provider why you aren’t allowed to see it? Too many times a provider is afraid to let a client lift the veil of secrecy to reveal lack of work done on the environment.

At Renascence IT, we have a secure, online documentation system that can be pulled up on any device to see not only network information, but all of your systems in the network at a glance. We share this freely with specific people at our clients and can audit who is accessing it. We believe that your environment is yours and should not be ransomed by those who are doing work for you.
